Compound of () (iku, (れん)(よう)(けい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb () (iku, yodan katsuyō verb)) + (くすり) (kusuri, medicine, drug).[1]The kusuri changes to gusuri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
