Compound of 生(い)く (iku, 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 生(い)く (iku, yodan katsuyō verb)) + 薬(くすり) (kusuri, “medicine, drug”).[1]The kusuri changes to gusuri as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
