Etymology

어벙 (eobeong) +‎ 하다 (-hada, light verb deriving adjectives). The first element is not used in isolation and is of unclear meaning, but compare 어리석다 (eoriseokda, to be foolish), 꺼벙하다 (kkeobeonghada, to be simple, to be foolish).
