Achterste Diesdonk
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as opt diesdonck in 1440. Derived from achterst (“rearmost”) and a compound toponym composed of an unclear first element (perhaps related to dialectal dies (“fog, mist”)) and donk (“sandy hill protruding above a swamp”). The element achterst was added to distinguish the settlement from Voorste Diesdonk.
