Achterste Diesdonk

Dutch edit

Etymology edit

First attested as opt diesdonck in 1440. Derived from achterst (rearmost) and a compound toponym composed of an unclear first element (perhaps related to dialectal dies (fog, mist)) and donk (sandy hill protruding above a swamp). The element achterst was added to distinguish the settlement from Voorste Diesdonk.
