Cognate with Old Irish áil (“ignomy, insult”), Ancient Greek ἀχλύς (akhlús, “manure, dung”), Ancient Greek ὀχλέω (okhléō, “to vex, harass”), Sanskrit अघल (aghala, “bad, terrible”), Sanskrit अघ (agha, “evil, pain”).
