Kuhmoinen
Finnish
editEtymology
editkuhmo- + -inen. The initial component has been explained in two ways: by derivation from kuhmu (thus "hill"), or, more likely, akin to kumottaa, kuumottaa (“to loom, be barely vislble”). As the name has generally been associated with high points of elevation, the "looming" would have referred to terrain, or alternatively to beacons (signal fires).[1]
