- (Groningen) First attested as oldenhove in 1392. Compound of Middle Dutch out (“old”) and the dative singular form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”). See also Dutch Low Saxon Ollehoof.
- (Friesland) Compound of oud (“old”) and hof (“farmstead, homestead”). Formerly an independent village.
