Calque of Latin Spīritus Sānctus, from Ancient Greek Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον (Pneûma tò Hágion). Ultimately from Biblical Hebrew רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ (rū́aḥ haqqṓḏeš).
