Etymology edit

Onomatopoeic origin. Appeared in Proto-Slavic only after the appearance of the consonant *c. Similar formations that are not cognates in the Baltic languages include Lithuanian càp, càpt, Latvian caps, capt, capst.

  1. Used to denote the action of quick grasping, grabbing something
