@Benwing2 This seems to reflect a causative, where the other BS languages reflect the basic root form. Does Slavic also attest the root verb, or do these other languages have the causative? —CodeCat 19:55, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@CodeCat The root form would presumably be *lęti, but this doesn't exist in ESSJa, which is pretty comprehensive. There is a word *lomъ that has descendants with various meanings, some of which are "crowbar" or similar (e.g. лом (lom)). Vasmer claims that ломить derives from лом (which would imply he thinks it's not a causative). I don't know if the other Baltic languages have a causative in them; I imagine Derksen would have mentioned the words if they existed. Benwing2 (talk) 20:02, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
