Etymology

Developed independently by the botanists Thorvald Sørensen and Lee Raymond Dice in the 1940s.

Sørensen–Dice coefficient (plural Sørensen-Dice coefficients)

1. (statistics) A statistic used to gauge the similarity of two samples. It is equal to twice the number of elements common to both sets, divided by the sum of the number of elements in each set.
