Same as 笤帚?
edit@Wyang, Dokurrat, Tooironic Should this be treated as the same as 笤帚? Hanyu Da Cidian and Guoyu Cidian seem to define this specifically as a type of broom made from 苕稈/苕葦條. — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 06:09, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- I support merging them, and handle any nuances as usage notes. In modern uses the difference is hardly observed; the same goes for 笤帚, 掃帚, 掃把, etc. - they are becoming more or less the same, especially after the new plastic brooms became popular. Wyang (talk) 06:23, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Wyang: The problem with 笤帚 vs. 掃帚 is that many resources (on dialects) make distinctions between 掃帚 and 笤帚 (based on different criteria, include size, material and purpose), while other resources lump them together under 掃帚, 笤帚 or 掃把. It might be another 白菜 situation :( — justin(r)leung { (t...) | c=› } 06:35, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know how other people use 笤帚 and 掃帚, but these two words represent two different things to me. 笤帚 is the normal one I'd use indoors. 掃帚 is bigger, made of a-different-thing(s?)-I-dunno-what-the-name-is, and I'd use it to clean the road, courtyard, etc. Dokurrat (talk) 13:59, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Dokurrat: Mind if I know what dialect of Mandarin do you use? Qhwans (talk) 22:59, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Qhwans: Due to privacy concern I don't want to pinpoint that much about the geographical location of my dialect. Sorry lah. Dokurrat (talk) 02:15, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
