(The word Bashi is absolutely not derived from the Hanyu Pinyin for 巴士 (bāshì).)

The word Bashi/Bashee in Bashi Channel is likely ideally intended to be read in English as /ˈbasi/ or similar following the various sugarcane wines listed on the basi page. As to its modern readings, I don't know if we could find a good speech in English from the Philippines or something that would give a good example of this reading. Mandarin-influenced English may read it like a Mandarin Chinese derived word- /pä⁵⁵ ʂʐ̩⁵¹/, which pronunciation would deserve a mention in the etymology if that reading is shown to have a significant 'market share' of English speaker's reading of the word. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 19:01, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
