Nonce word from Ben Jonson. We don't have the special nonce-word provision any more so it needs three citations. I can see one other possible use in GBooks ("...then shall you see what friskals shee will fetch..."), possibly also Jonson; not clear who wrote it. Equinox 22:32, 15 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

This word is rare and subject to unsettled spelling. OED lemmatises it at friscal, and offers various quotations, including one from {{RQ:Coryat Crudities}}: "His treadings were but friscals of a poppet".
The original spelling in Shelton's translation of Quixote is friskles: see EEBO. The 1923 edition quoted in our entry appears to be an attempt at modernisation (in spelling at least). In light of this I'll take out the "archaic" label.
Having said all that, I would be content to call this cited. We have three uses in Modern English texts. This, that and the other (talk) 05:01, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
