Incidental pun?

Is it accurate to call the connection with the PIE root an “incidental pun”? It seems like it was chosen deliberately. — Ungoliant ^(falai) 16:17, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

For others stumbling across this through the unlikely category Category:English terms borrowed from Proto-Indo-European: the people who coined the term in fact do mention explicitly that the nomenclature was directly and deliberately influenced by the form of the reconstructed PIE root. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 16:20, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
