Supposedly
editI think "supposedly" is a synonym sometimes, more than "apparently". Siuenti (talk) 15:41, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- Etymologically, "ostensibly" is like implying (i.e. from the source) while "apparently" and "supposedly" are like inferring (i.e. from the observer, who is the one who does the supposing, and to whom things appear). In practice, I don't know how far that applies. Equinox ◑ 22:25, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
- AHD/Roget offers the following synsets:
- for ostensible: apparent, external, ostensive (frowned on as a synonym by Garner's Modern American Usage), outward, seeming, superficial.
- for supposed: conjectural, hypothetic, hypothetical, inferential, presumptive, suppositional, suppositious, supposititious, suppositive.

- AHD/Roget offers the following synsets:
- If "2 synsets" wasn't intended as a pun on (my) 2 cents then I'll be unhappy all day. Equinox ◑ 00:14, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- I wouldn't want you to be unhappy, especially not at my instigation. DCDuring TALK 03:17, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
