Usage

This is the automatic conjugation template for Western Armenian verbs ending in -ել (-el).

Parameters

For a typical ել verb like գրել, use the following command:

Some older entries on Armenian include an extra parameter at the beginning. This extra beginning is optional and doesn't do anything anymore.

For a word with a deletable ն or չ letters like մտ-ն-ել (mt-n-el) or փախ-չ-ել (pʻax-čʻ-el), add:

• 3 = verb stem without suffix

For verbs with irregular imperative, like բերել (berel), imp. բե՛ր (bér), add also:

• 5 = irregular imperative, OR imp1 = irregular imperative

In the aorist (simple past, past perfective), some irregular verbs like բերել (berel) don't use the aorist suffix -ց, use the past marker -աւ for 3SG, and past suffixes -ի etc. for other numbers. With the template, you need to add the 3rd parameter as the root and then specify an "aor" parameter:

To block the aorist from appearing in the imperative 2PL like բերէք, also include բեր as the 3rd parameter

Additional parameters

When adding extra parameters for passives and causatives, generally try to match the Eastern version. It's rare to find differences across the two dialects for passives and causatives

For verbs having also a passive voice (կրավորական), add the following parameter:

• mp=on

For example, for սիրել (sirel, “to like”) add:

This way սիրվել (sirvel, “to be liked”) will be shown in the table.

For verbs having also a causative form (պատճառական), add the following parameter:

• caus=on

For example, for մտնել (mtnel, “to go in”) add:

This way մտցնել (mtcʻnel, “to put in, insert”) will be shown in the table.
