If you're not a fan of derivation from Old Lithuanian (the EWN gives a few alternative etymologies, including derivation from Proto-Germanic), note that German Elen has that derivation as well.
It seemed so implausible I thought it was a mistake, and someone mean "Old Latin" or something instead. If it's really what sources say I have no problem with it being added back.
To be honest I don't exactly mind either way — getting rid of the bad formatting was the only thing I cared about. Perhaps the first two etymologies given by the EWN could be presented.
