The Baška Stone

edit

It contains an inscription from about 1100 affirming a land donation made by the Croatian king Zvonimir to the parish of St. Lucia on the island of Krk. The Baška inscription exhibits features of Church Slavonic of Croatian Recension, writing (ju) for (j)ǫ, e for ę, i for y, and using one jer only (ъ). It provides the only example of transition from Glagolitic of the rounded Macedonian type to the angular Croatian alphabet.
