Hi there, I noticed that you welcomed someone, having not yet been welcomed - and I thought that that shouldn't be allowed, so "Welcome to Wiktionary" I have transcluded the welcome template just for forms sake, and I hope to see you around (by the way the important ones are WT:ELE and WT:CFI; Wiktionary:Community portal answers some questions, other questions to my talk page :). Welcome edit

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! Conrad.Irwin 21:35, 26 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

trans-top edit

When you insert the Template:termp template, the first parameter should be the definition for which the translation is given, not the word "Translation". This is important because a page may accumulate other definitions, for which there with be a separate box of translations. --EncycloPetey 16:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

username blocked template etc edit

This isn't needed, and a waste of time: the "User" pages will be routinely deleted anyway.

Noise like this isn't coddled, just shot. Robert Ullmann 03:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK. I'm alright with that. --MacReporter 03:59, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry if this sounded a bit abrupt; I just didn't want you wasting time. Noting the bad user names in the first place was good. ;-) Robert Ullmann 04:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

reverting warnings edit

Please don't revert when you have no idea what you're dealing with. --Spainiard 15:31, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

What you are dealing with is a "Wonderfool" sock. Robert Ullmann 16:32, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know. I've also seen his past few socks too. --MacReporter 16:42, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I believe what you are doing with tagging the suspected sockpuppet in called "Feeding the trolls". --Feetborlz 20:00, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whatmore, it'll take a hell of a long time to tag all of them. --Feetborlz 20:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
