Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!

I'm afraid I can't help you with Japanese, but User:Jun-Dai may be able to assist if you have Japanese-specific questions. --Dvortygirl 02:43, 14 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

I made a proposal on the beer parlour. Polyglot 17:38, 14 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Japanese-English edit

Hi, Jim! I hope it's not too late to meet you. I am deeply interested in your proposal, and I'm sorry if others gave you the cold shoulder.

I have been using your materials and reading about your EDICT work for as long as I've known about the World Wide Web. (You can tell it's been a while, because no one even calls it that any more. :-)

For over twenty years I've been struggling to learn Japanese, and it's hard because there's not enough of a community on the Westerners Learning Japanese side - as opposed to the Japanese Learning English (or studying ESL).

Creating and sustaining the bilingual community is absolutely the way to go, and MediaWiki software can help immensely with this. I offer my full cooperation. I am a long-standing Admin at the English Wikipedia, and I'm also a professional database programmer with knowledge of Java and some scripting languages. I took a year of Japanese at Harvard and got a "B" in it. I've written a Romaji to Hiragana converter in Javascript (which is GPL).

You are the foremost leader of the English-Japanese bilingual language-learning community, and I'm a fairly good computer programmer with excellent Wikimedia connections. I look forward to meeting you and figuring out how we can work together! Ed Poor 22:54, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

"網処" in JMdict edit

If I may, I would like bring Talk:網処 to your attention.

(It wasn't clear to me where to send feedback for JMdict, so instead I shall post here. My apologies if this is the wrong venue.) —suzukaze (tc) 07:33, 3 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
