大大和 edit

Why did you restore an earlier version of 大大和? I think it's better to make 大和 the main entry because the Japanese cognate is on the same page. --YukaSylvie (talk) 06:29, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@YukaSylvie: I don't think they're cognates because of the usage difference between 大和 and 大大和. MiguelX413 (talk) 14:39, 15 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Module:ryu edit

We totally need the infrastructure of other Japonic languages to be on the same level as Japanese, but I don't particularly like this forking of the code. Do you think we could work on converting on Module:ja to Module:jpx? —Suzukaze-c 07:17, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Suzukaze-c: That would be nice. How do you think we should start? MiguelX413 (talk) 07:20, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps we could start by copying Module:ja to Module:jpx/sandbox, making parts of it more generic and merging modifications from Module:ryu. Many things like export.hira_to_kata() don't need to change. (Pinging @Erutuon for extra wisdom?) —Suzukaze-c 07:23, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: The Romanization schemes do differ however. MiguelX413 (talk) 07:25, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Indeed; hopefully keeping it all contained within a single export.kana_to_romaji() won't be too much of a pain in the ass... —Suzukaze-c 07:26, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: Do you think that could even be done? か行 seems to be romanized as kh- and in Kunigami, k- being か゚行. This is odd because it even conflicts with the typical ng- usage of か゚行. MiguelX413 (talk) 07:31, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: Actually, it seems as though the current kana system being used for Kunigami here on wiktionary is non-standard I haven't been able to find any other examples of it online. MiguelX413 (talk) 07:36, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
While we're having this discussion, I'd like to know how をぅ can be implemented as wu in module:ryu/data. MiguelX413 (talk) 07:44, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
re: can it be done?: I hope so... if we can't I suppose having separate functions would be the simplest.
I did consider rewriting export.kana_to_romaji() a second time using conversion tables suited to each Japonic lect, but I didn't get anywhere with it.
re: をぅ: The change should be made within Module:ryu. —Suzukaze-c 08:14, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: maybe we could have seperate kana->rōmaji things for each lang. How would I implement をぅ (wu) in module:ryu? MiguelX413 (talk) 08:23, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
re: をぅ: I think I was wrong. Try changing ヲ in Module:ryu/data from 'o' to 'wo' (is this appropriate in general?). —Suzukaze-c 23:58, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: How do you think we could implement いぃ as yi? MiguelX413 (talk) 03:02, 25 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
