Chinese to English
editThere's a Chinese character on the bottom of one of my teacups, and I'd like to know what it means. Here (1 / 2) are two of my attempts to depict the character (the second is better, and NB that the box around it is likely ornamental and not part of the character — though it could be part). I'd appreciate any information — if you don't know the meaning, I'd appreciate even the pinyin or the unicode code-point. — Beobach972 21:54, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe it's 壽. See this 寿 too.Oda Mari 19:18, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think so Oda. It looks more like 嘉. Is it a new or old tea cup? The reason I ask (and this is just a random thought, since I have no idea what your cup looks like or where it came from) is because 嘉 could be short for 嘉庆 (see: Jiaqing Emperor). The cup could be a reproduction or an original from that era. -- A-cai 13:21, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
