From Ancient Greek ἁεροσκοπία (haeroskopía, “divination by observing the heavens”), from ἀήρ (aḗr, “air”) + σκοπέω (skopéō, “I examine”).

(obsolete, meteorology) The branch of meteorology that involves the scientific examination of the various properties and composition of the atmosphere, and their variation
