greigite (uncountable)

1. (mineralogy) A magnetic form of iron sulfide, Fe²⁺Fe³⁺₂S₄, analogous to magnetite, produced by microorganisms and found in lake sediments; Note: half the iron ions are ferrous and half ferric.
