Swedish edit
Etymology edit
From Old Swedish hænda, from Old Norse henda, from Proto-Germanic *handijaną.
Pronunciation edit

Verb edit
hända (present händer, preterite hände, supine hänt, imperative händ)
- to happen; chiefly what happens quickly or for a short time
Usage notes edit
- Present participle is rarely used. For adjectival use it is almost always replaced with som händer (literally “which happens”) (preceded by the noun or pronoun), and for nominal use it is normally replaced with händelse. Swedish does not use the present participle for the continuous aspect.
