homonīms m (1st declension)
- homonym (one of two or more words that coincide partially or completely in pronunciation and/or spelling but differ significantly in meaning)
- vārdi “rota” (karaspēka vienība) un “rota” (greznuma priekšmets) ir homonīmi ― the words “rota” (military unit) and “rota” (adornment item) are homonyms
- latviešu valodā ir diezgan daudz homonīmu, no kuriem viens ir latviskas cilmes vārds, otrs - aizguvums ― in Latvian there are quite a lot of homonyms of which one is a word of Latvian origin and the other a borrowing
