Etymology edit

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اینجلمك (incelmek),[1][2] from اینجه (ince),[3] equivalent to ince (thin) +‎ -l (verb-forming suffix) +‎ -mak. Cognates with Azerbaijani incəlmək, Turkmen inçelmek, Uzbek ingichkalashmoq.

  1. (intransitive) To become thin, to reduce in width or thickness.
  2. (intransitive) To become more fluid, more inviscid, to lose viscosity.
  3. (intransitive) To lose weight.
  4. (intransitive, figuratively) To become gentle, polite.
