Etymology edit

First attested in 1807. From the obsolete noun körkör (“ellipse”) +‎ -ös (adjective-forming suffix). The noun was created by duplicating kör (“circle”). Both were created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.^[1]^[2]
