Borrowed from Javanese ꦊꦩꦫꦶ (lemari, “cupboard; wardrobe”), from Portuguese armário (“cupboard”), from Latin armārium. Cognate of Malay almari, lemari, Classical Malay الماري (almari), لماري (lemari). Doublet of almari.
