AlbanianEdit

EtymologyEdit

Singularized plural of earlier *leg, *lig. Either borrowed through Vulgar Latin from Latin lēx, lēgem (law) (compare Romanian lege), from Proto-Indo-European *leǵ- (to collect, to speak), or from the same root of Lithuanian lygùs (equal) and Old Prussian līgan (court), as substantiated by ligje (mourning, dirge).

NounEdit

  1. law
