EtymologyEdit
Tosk variant of Gheg mând, from Proto-Indo-European *men- ("to think"). Compare Latin mens, mentem ("mind"), Old English mynd (“mind”), Old High German gimunt (“mind, memory”), Danish minde (“memory”). A Latin borrowing, although possible, does not explain the Gheg form.
