  1. (UK, colloquial, now historical) A female worker in a munitions factory, especially during the First World War. [from 20th c.]
    • 1991, Pat Barker, Regeneration (The Regeneration Trilogy), Penguin, published 2014, page 119:
      Since they all had a slightly yellow tinge to their skin, he assumed they were munitions workers. Munitionettes, as the newspapers liked to call them.
