From Proto-Norse *ᚾᚨᛒᚢ (*nabu), attested in ᚾᚨᛒᛟᛉ (naboʀ /⁠nabōʀ⁠/) (genitive singular), from Proto-Germanic *nabō. Cognate with Old English nafu (English nave).
