Dutch edit

Etymology edit

From Middle Dutch ongehiere, from Old Dutch *ungihiuri, from Proto-West Germanic *ungahiurī (see also *unhiurī). The unprefixed form of this word still existed in Middle Dutch as ghehure, meaning "pleasant". Compare German ungeheuer.

Possibly related to eunjer (wizard).
