paceline ‎(plural pacelines)

  1. A formation in which riders (especially bicycle racers) travel in a line, one close behind the other, in order to conserve energy and travel faster by riding in the draft of the riders in front. The foremost rider periodically drops to the rear to allow another to take his or her place.
