Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *tšela, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷél-e-ti, from *kʷel- (to turn, twist). Cognate to Ancient Greek πέλω (pélō, to be in motion), Tocharian A köllāš (bring), preterit śël, Old Norse hvel (wheel). Somehow, the archaic form has generated Arbëresh Albanian qellënj with an apparently conservative q-.
