Etymology edit

Often claimed to be from Proto-Germanic *strawjaną (to strew). But if the sense is indeed "funeral feast", a derivation from Proto-Slavic *sъtrava (food) is much more probable.

Noun edit

strava f (genitive stravae); first declension

  1. a rite performed by the Huns, perhaps a monument of victory built of captured arms, or a funeral feast
