Etymology edit

From Ottoman Turkish طیقمق (tıkmak),[1] from Proto-Turkic *tɨkɨ- (to stuff in, press in).[2] Cognate to Southern Altai тыгар (tïgar, to stuff), etc.

tıkmak (third-person singular simple present tıkar)

  1. (transitive) to stuff, cram, jam, thrust, or stick (someone, something) (forcibly or quickly) into (a place)
