Reduplication of toko (see Hawaiian koʻokoʻo) fron Proto-Polynesian *toko (compare with Samoan toʻo, Hawaiian koʻo)[1] from Proto-Oceanic *tokon, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *təkən (bamboo punting pole, to press downward) (compare with Malay tekan, Tagalog tikin).
