á thần
Vietnamese
editEtymology
editSino-Vietnamese word from 亞神, composed of 亞 (“sub-”) and 神 (“god”). The prefix 亞 denotes secondariness or lesserness rather than the notion of a demigod as a genealogical "half-god". Japanese 亜神 (ashin, “demigod”) and Japanese 亜人 (ajin, á nhân, “demihuman”) are also found in contemporary fantasy.
