editLearnedly, from Hellenistic Koine Greek ἀναγεννῶ (anagennô) ("arouse afresh"), contracted form of ἀναγεννάω (anagennáō). Morphologically, from ανα- (ana-, “re-”) + γεννώ (gennó, “give birth”).[1][2]
