Learned borrowing from Byzantine Greek ἐξαπολύω (exapolúō)[1] or a learned variant of the inherited ξαπολάω (xapoláo) / ξαπολώ (xapoló) from Byzantine Greek ξαπολῶ (xapolô) < ἐξαπολῶ (exapolô) from ἐξ (ex) + the ancient ἀπολύω (apolúō).[2] Morphologically, from εκ- (εξ-) (ek- (ex-), from) +‎ απο- (apo-, from) +‎ λύω (lýo, untie; solve).
