Ancient Greek edit

Etymology edit

Probably from Proto-Indo-European *lat- (wet, damp; swamp) or Pre-Greek through an intermediary source such as Illyrian. Compare Albanian Albanian lag from Proto-Albanian *lauga. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)

  1. (usually in the plural) the drops of wine in the bottom of the cup which were thrown into a basin with a splash
