From dialectal засилить (zasilitʹ, “to noose (a bird); to tie to”) + -ье (-ʹje), from за- (za-) + си́лить (sílitʹ, “to net; to force”), from си́ла (síla). Compare with Belarusian засі́лле (zasíllje), Ukrainian заси́лля (zasýllja).
