- (of a person or similar) generous, giving, liberal (willing to give or share beyond what is expected)
- Tanach, Proverbs 19:6, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- רַבִּים יְחַלּוּ פְנֵי־נָדִיב וְכָל־הָרֵעַ לְאִישׁ מַתָּן׃
- Rabím y'ḥallú f'nei nadív v-khol ha-réa' l-ish matan.
- Many will entreat the favour of the liberal man; And every man is a friend to him that giveth gifts.
