Inherited from Chagatai اوز (ʾūz /⁠ʾȫz⁠/), from Common Turkic *ȫz, from Proto-Turkic *ȫŕ.[1][2] Cognate with Uzbek oʻz; Turkmen ȫz, Azerbaijani öz, Turkish öz; Kazakh өз (öz), Kyrgyz өз (öz); etc.
