اِنْتَهَى (intahā) VIII (non-past يَنْتَهِي (yantahī), verbal noun اِنْتِهَاء (intihāʔ))

  1. (intransitive) to end
  2. to give up, to desist, to cease, to stop doing something, to refrain (عَن (ʕan) something)
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 26:167:
      قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ
      qālū laʔin lam tantahi yā lūṭu latakūnanna mina l-muḵrajīna
      They said, “If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be expelled.”
  3. to finish (مِن (min) something)
