Borrowed from Classical Persian بادام (bādām, “almond”). Cognate with Bengali বাদাম (badam), Gujarati બદામ (badām), Hindi बादाम (bādām), Marathi बदाम (badām), Nepali बदाम् (badām), Odia ବାଦାମ (badamô), Punjabi ਬਦਾਮ (badām).
