From Aramaic שְרָגָא (šərāḡā), from Parthian *𐫢𐫡𐫀𐫄 (*šrʾɣ /⁠širāɣ⁠/); related to Persian چراغ (čerâğ), Old Armenian ճրագ (črag), and Arabic سِرَاج (sirāj).
