Inherited from Old Marathi उन्हाळा (unhāḷā), from Apabhramsa उन्हाल (unhāla), उण्हाल (uṇhāla) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-) from Sanskrit उष्णकाल (uṣṇakāla).
